The Beginning
Belani Group was founded in the year 1967 by a perceptive entrepreneur Mr. K. P. Belani, who foresaw Kolkata's potential in Real Estate development. His dream was to offer a distinctive lifestyle to the people of Kolkata, which began with building the Himalaya House at Chowringhee.
Firsts That Last
Guru Nanak Auto Centre in Mango Lane was completed in 1978 and was the first organised retail centre of its kind in the country
Metro Shopping Centre, completed in 2000, ushered in the mall concept in Kolkata.

Garden Apartment on Sarat Bose Road was completed on 1997. A total of 7 bungalows spread over an acre, the striking feature of this development is its all through basement car parking, space-saving feature of high end properties. The ground floor is completely landscaped.

Tall residential buildings become popular. Neelanjan, Sindu and Niladri become icons. People recognise the name 'Belani' easily.

Venture into premium spaces. Belmont Apartments come into being. It changes Alipore Road. Goes onto to become a landmark.
2000
A great mix of commercial developments, premium residential buildings and mixed-use developments surface. Metro Plaza, MetroTowers, Le Palmerie, Hiland Park, Greenwoods and Palacio deserve mention. The brand has a new logo and tagline.
2010
Heavy commercial needs lead to fast real estate development. It impacts the focus on mixed-use development. Woodburn Central, a premium commercial development, grows into a success. Also residential developments like Moore Heights and Convent Corner are popular.
